Mrs. R called me one morning in a bit of a panic. She was holding her sweet 5 week old little boy, and had tried to set up a newborn session for him, but the photographer didn’t get back to her after a few attempts at communication, so she called me. I’m so glad she did! I warned her that at 5 weeks, the sleepy, curly newborn shots were usually difficult (if not impossible) to get, but that we’d try our best. Well, the car ride put their sweet baby into a slumber and we were able to get quite a few beautiful shots of him. Then we managed to get some great family images as well. I just so loved working with this family!

I met up with the S family at the Lakewood Ranch Adventure park to capture Miss M (and her parents too). I’d met them through the swimming lessons both my sons participate in (Infant Swimming Resource with Megan Zoller for any interested). We happened to have our lessons back to back. And Miss M and my Bodie are only a couple weeks apart in age (but boy are their personalities different). Miss M is sweet and gentle, and just so funny. I just loved their session.

Just a side note: This is the last of my family sessions from the fall to catch up on. Be prepared for a slew of newborns (and some maternity of their mama’s too).

The M family came to the studio for their family session this fall. When we were talking about the session she told me she had 3 boys. 3, 2, and 6 weeks old. We had an action packed session!! It was so fun to meet them! I also included one of my favorite outtakes from all of 2011. The last photo I like to call “how you know when the session is a wrap”. LOL!

where I don’t usually go! Kara contacted me in the fall wanting some engagement photos and oh, maybe a few with her puppy as well! Engagement? and puppy photos? I’ve done some engagement photos and always had a blast with them. 2 people that are in love and can take direction? Sign me up! I’ve also photographed a few pets as a part of a family session before (and am a dog lover myself), but was a bit nervous. Photographing dogs is a lot like photographing toddlers. Treats are great and you never know if they’ll be in the mood to cooperate that day. Fortunately we had some beautiful light and Kara had a few ideas she wanted to try (and they were so cute) and then I had fun with 2 cooperative adults!

Little Mr. C was not so convinced that having family photos was a good idea. I pulled out all the stops. I let him show me how strong he was, I let him be my helper, and with some help from mom and dad and some reverse psychology, he was a natural in front of the camera in no time! I gotta say, the sessions where I have to work for it, I always drive away doing a bit of a fist pump. Got ‘em.

Another beautiful family from the fall! Yes, I do seem to attract a large number of very attractive families! This family was so much fun. We laughed and laughed A LOT at this session. It made for great natural expressions! I just loved the images from this session!

I met up with Mr. A this fall at the Palma Sola Botanical Gardens. His mom said that one of the things he LOVED to do was to explore the outdoors and he especially loved flowers. This location was perfect for him! He gave me such a variety. Some great smiles, some flirtacious looks, and some images with mom that just melt my heart!

Amongst all the family sessions in the fall, I did have my fair share of newborns as well! This is little Miss A. She made us work for her to get to sleep, but was so cute, that all was quickly forgetten when we saw how adorable the images were!

a personal note… playing catch up

Do you have that one area of your home that when things get hectic, it gets neglected? No? Well, I do. For me, in my business, that’s my blog. I always intend to keep 2 posts a week up here. And well, that just flat out hasn’t happened lately. I was very blessed with a busy fall full of beautiful newborns and families. Then in early December, we found out we are expecting baby #3! I’m due in mid-August (in Florida, I know. Send ice and air conditioning). I am a person that gets hit HARD by morning sickness, so it’s been survival of the fittest here for a while.

I have a great photographer friend, Kimberly Svenson, of Fanciful Photography. We’ve met up the last 2 years to do a short session swap with our families. Our husbands wrangle our kids while we shoot the other’s photos for Christmas cards. There are a few photos in this mix that are taken by her (the ones with me in them, for instance). I’m so grateful!

Up first is a couple photos from our annual trip on the day after Thanksgiving to pick out our Christmas tree. I started when Carter was about 14 months old with the “wear the Christmas shirt and mom runs ragged trying to snap a few pics”. This year was no exception because Bodie is FAST and (like most almost 2 year olds) is a wee bit less than cooperative for photos.

Here are some other photos of us and the kids! I have a few outtakes as well, but I’ll save those for another post. This post is pic heavy enough as it is.

This is not a family I have to worry about showing up in khaki’s and white shirts. They always come dressed in some great color scheme’s. In fact, I was talking about this session to another photographer friend last night (when I realized I hadn’t blogged it). We met up at Selby Botanical Gardens on a windy day, but we found some gorgeous pockets of shade and I am just thrilled with the results!

As a side note. You’re going to see a lot of catching up from the fall for me here for the next few weeks! I’ll share a more personal post next to fill you in on the fun.
