  • Meet Jennifer

I believe real life moments are imperfectly perfect and are worth capturing.

I create art for people who can't help but smile at their loved ones.

It's real life. It's real art. It's real life as art.

So, sit back and enjoy some beautiful images from my business and a little about my family and loved ones too. After all, I'm running a business in the community I was born and raised in. But it's more than just business when my clients welcome me into their lives and their homes.

A NOTE ABOUT INQUIRIES! It has come to my attention that some inquiries are not making it to me at ALL. I sincerely apologize for the extra steps. But, while I try to get to the bottom of this issue, please email me directly at JenniferMauren@ymail.com or call me at 941.920.0998 if you please! You are very important to me, and I so appreciate your extra effort. Thank you!

chasing moments blog circle | graduation edition

Last week my was the spring program for my boys (who attend Trinity Children’s Center here in Bradenton). It was a big occasion because this serves as Carter’s graduation from VPK!! He is so excited to be off to Kindergarten at Rowlett Elementary in the fall!

And since these are mostly snapshots and you don’t know who most of these kids are… I’ll provide some play-by-play for you.

This is Bodie’s teacher, Miss Fiona. This woman needs to be canonized a saint. She is AMAZING with Bodie (and the rest of the 2 year old class). She sees right through his antics and sees the kind and sweet heart he has. She gets 12 2 year olds doing things I can’t get my ONE 3 year old to do. I. LOVE. HER. Here she is having one last moment with Bodie before the show to encourage him to SIT STILL with the rest of the class. A side note about Bodie… He had a cold and (under doctors permission) I gave him some Triaminic so he was a little out of it.

Carter was SO excited about the performance!!

Here is Bodie with his class performaning. He loves to sing, but not with his friends on a stage.

Carter and his class get SO into the choreography! It’s adorable! The blurry blobs in the front? Other parents videoing the performance.

Yeah, this was our view a lot of the time. ha.

Here’s handsome little Bodie sitting up front by his teacher before he came to sit with us in the audience. A 45 min performance is just too long for him to sit on the stage.

At the end of the performance, each student graduating to Kindergarten gets to walk across the stage while the teacher says what they have said they want to be when they grow up. Carter says he wants to be a writer. He loves to read and write. But, currently he’s more of a plagiarizer. Ha. He loves to copy a picture and text from a fave book. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Preparing for college? HA!

And a really quick few shots in the front yard with his diploma, mom, and dad. No, no images with the siblings. They were still buckled in the car while I snapped these… all the while Bodie was yelling “MOM! My get OUT!!” LOL! And can I just say, holy cow! My big boy is headed to Kindergarten!

Oh, love those boys. And, I have to give some serious props to Richie – the last image is fantastic.

our fanciful christmas

My dear friend Kimberly, of Fanciful Photography and I have taken almost every step of our photography businesses together. We’re way more than colleagues, though. One of the “perks” (I’ll be honest) is our yearly session swap. Quite simply, I shoot her family, she shoots mine. ha.

I called this my “even though” session…

Even though…
I still had 10 lbs to lose.
She’s only 3 months old and not exactly easy to incorporate into family photos.
The 2 year old is the very definition of the word “challenging”.
The 5 year old was in full on “stinker mode” as he was trying to earn attention.
The husband didn’t like the clothes I originally picked out, and pouts like a kid eating spinach about having to have family photos taken.

Trust me. Just because I’m a photographer does NOT mean that my family is some exception to regular family photography rules. Laney wore a bib most of it because she has reflux and will spew like a can of beer. Bodie attempted (not successful) to run off from us several times. Carter thought he was HILARIOUS when he’d pretend that he couldn’t stand up and would fall on purpose rather than cooperate for photos. But, Kimberly and I both are experts in going with the flow and getting results.

I love the imperfectly perfect session.

And I owe Kimberly a drink. or 17.

sleeping bodie… chasing moments blog circle

For this months blog circle it felt appropriate to share Bodie.

Oh, this child.

He is the middle child and EVERYthing that that implies.

One day when he’s standing up on an Olympic podium collecting his gold medal, I’ll take a sigh of relief. But, in the meantime this boy is such a challenge. Don’t get me wrong, he is a SWEETHEART. He has a heart of gold. But, he is on his OWN agenda at all times.

One day in the last month he was having a rough day with potty training (he’ll do great for WEEKS and then have a few rough days. Makes me batty.). He’s also trying to outgrow a nap. See? Challenge all the way. He went to time out for some offense (Lord only knows what). And fell asleep curled up in time out.

From a technical perspective, this image is out of focus. But, the emotion of it is perfectly in focus. My handsome boy in his “boing” shirt (he loves to jump), in just undies, in time out… ASLEEP.

Oh my goodness. You have GOT to be kidding me with that cuteness! It’s too much!

my christmas shoot… and a secret revealed

I have to be honest. Thinking about how to take images of my kids (pictured here at 5, 2.5, and 3 months) made me nervous as all get out to think about our images for our Christmas card. Our cards have become quite popular, and I LOVE shooting for them.

So, I got creative. I put a white comforter and pillows on the FLOOR of my studio. No, my kids aren’t actually jumping on a bed. It’s just the floor of my studio and a target white comforter! And I LOVE the results. My 2 older kids having a blast jumping on the bed, and a soft place to prop up Laney for some images too. And what better attire for jumping on the bed than Christmas jammies! Carter (5) is my santa, Bodie (2.5) is my elf, and Delaney (3 months) is my present.

hitting the jackpot… newborn twin photography style

Photographing these twins was the equivalent of winning the photography lottery. ADORABLE babies, 4 weeks old and still sleepy (Thank you, sweet baby Jesus), and a happy and cooperative big brother? Jackpot! Seriously, I think I say it every session, but I definitely have some new favorites here!
